We have fully functional department of radiology, catheterisation laboratories, tissue typing. Our Center for Nephrology & Kidney Disorders is a well equipped unit with a dedicated team of skilled consultants and paramedical staff which offers patient the advantages of a multidisciplinary approach.
Center for Nephrology & Kidney Disorders is a leading centre for the management of all renal problems. State-of-the-art facilities for renal pathology, with complete biochemical, immunological, microbiological and histological (including immunofluorescence and immuno-histo-chemistry) - back up available under one roof. Angiographic, genetic and HLA studies are available in-house for organ transplantation & diagnosis of other diseases. it is one of the first centre in Africa to provide maintenance haemodialysis facilities to the patients of chronic renal failure.
Patients with a severe degree of kidney failure cannot lead a comfortable life with medications and dietary restrictions alone. They need a treatment modality known as dialysis, a procedure to purify the blood by removing toxic substances.
The term chronic renal failure denotes a permanent loss of kidney function. When a person has suffered an irreversible loss of more than 90% of kidney function, the patient is diagnosed as having end-stage renal disease. Patients with end-stage renal disease undergo lifelong maintenance dialysis or a kidney transplant.
The department offers two types of dialysis; haemodialysis, in which the patient's blood is filtered by an artificial kidney and peritoneal dialysis, wherein a soft tube called a catheter is used to fill the abdomen with a cleansing liquid called dialysis solution. Those with end- stage renal disease are given the option of either haemodialysis or Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD).
Our Dialysis unit is well equipped with latest computerized dialysis machine, state of art, reverse osmosis water plant to provide pure and trace element free water supply. The unit is running day and night to provide best possible treatment to the renal patients with the full supportive care by trained dialysis technician and staff.
One of the few centres in Africa to provide highly sophisticated dialysis for critically ill patients in ICU/ICCU with multi-organ failure, where peritoneal or routine haemodialysis are not possible for various reasons.
These facilities of Plasmapheresis & Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE) are available for renal and non-renal patients such as LGB syndrome and myasthenia gravis.
Chronic Peritoneal Dialysis/Automated Peritoneal Dialysis:One of the leading centres in Africa to provide continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) for patients of CRF, who are otherwise not suitable for kidney transplant or maintenance haemodialysis. CAPD is also suitable for patients who are living in far flung areas where facility of haemodialysis is not available. We have the largest number of patients having been initiated and surviving on CAPD in the country. Our centre has one of the largest series of patients on automated peritoneal dialysis. We have one of the largest experience in India of having done CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery) in patients with advanced chronic renal failure under cover of CAPD.
Our nephrologists guide the patient on the importance of preventive medicine. Common diseases like diabetes and hypertension are an epidemic in our society. Sadly they are often neglected, leading to the complication of renal disease
The Center provides comprehensive health care for patients with different types of renal (kidney) diseases. Highly qualified and experienced physicians look after patients with various types of kidney diseases All these faculty members work in unison and the hospital is proud of their exemplary team work.
